| Even though we still didn't have all of our equipment in - we decided to make a practice run using what we had. This inventory consisted of flashlights, digital cameras (2), digital voice recorder for EVP (1) and a night vision enabled cam (1). We chose an abandoned part of Lake Mineral Wells State Park, an area that according to the park rangers is privately owned. There are no suitable living quarters in this area. There is no power, no running water and many of the buildings have either collapsed on top of themselves, have the roofs caved in, have floor boards totally missing and have many broken windows. Overall this was an interesting run, one where we weren't expecting to find anything at all, one where we were out in a secluded area with a small group (3 people) to test our equipment and fear-factors... The time is around 9:50pm - we were in this area for about an hour, not harming anything, just hiking around, snapping pictures here and there and attempting to do some EVP work, especially around the area we call 'the mess hall'. Nothing much came of it and by 11pm we were back at camp. In reviewing the collected photos, we saw nothing amusing, as expected, just a few random "orbs" and a few color streaks, all of which can be said were bugs flying around (there were quite a few). We looked at the video the night vision cam shot and were disappointed to find that none of it turned out. Initial EVP review also didn't turn much up. None-the-less, we were excited and were ready to get some sleep so we could get back to home base and really analyse what was found... Sunday evening, Mark began processing the images from the digital cameras. Hailey began evaluating the EVP recordings and a few of the images. We all agreed the video shot was useless, so it was discarded. |

Many of the photos were dark, so a brightness/gamma filter of roughly 2.0-2.5 was applied to the dark outside shots. Being NTPRT's first investigation, our equipment was not the best, these are 2 megapixel shots, many are more grainy than we wanted. These are our findings on this case:

The Minerals Wells trip provided us with a few EVP recordings, these are the ones that stood out as interesting out of nearly 2 hours worth or recording.

| Although video was shot on this case, none of it turned out. There was a malfunction with the recorder. This recorder has since been retired. It was replaced with a new unit. |

| We experienced one unexplainable phenomena while leaving the house shown in pictures #041 and #042 heading deeper into the area. We were about 100 feet away from this house when we heard a noise that caused the crew to all look back at the house. What we saw was fascinating! It looked like at least two people were in the house with flashlights. They were moving fast almost like the lights were being shaken. It was like watching a super fast replay of our crew shining flashlights throughout the building. This lasted only a short time then went back to complete darkness. We thought someone was messing with us, but no one else was around. Keep in mind there is also no electricity in this area and this is an isolated area away from everything. This event alone was spine tingling! At Lake Mineral Wells there was a constant feeling of being watched and a feeling of overall evil. All crew members at this investigation were uncomfortable with the energies and surroundings. In this particular case we also experienced an 'attachment' that followed a crew home and made life interesting for the following week. We had to do a cleansing on lead investigator Mark's house to stop the activity. In our opinion, this area is highly haunted, coupled with an evil feeling presence, we do not recommended anyone try to re-visit this area. This area is also dangerous from a lot of debris. |
